Exactly Where I Need to Be

What if things are actually always working out, even when it feels like they aren't? A close friend challenged me with this during a full-blown divorce-proceeding meltdown, and it stuck. The idea that I am always exactly where I need to be, experiencing what I need to experience, so that I can learn what I must learn, in order to become the person capable of creating the life I want is meaningful.
Discomfort plays a big role in that. It isn’t a punishment, it’s information. I try to remind myself of this before I become disappointed by something or someone. Information is good. It shows up with a purpose: to pull us into conscious awareness. When something feels uneasy or unfamiliar, it’s often our inner signal saying, You haven’t been here before. Slow down. Pay attention. Be intentional. From that space, I can make better choices and exist more peacefully.
In that way, adversity and discomfort stop feeling like signs that something is wrong and start revealing themselves as the training ground for who I'm becoming. They guide me toward a deeper understanding of how to navigate unfamiliar territory and help to shape the skills, resilience, and clarity I need for my future.
